The Go Getters are a brilliant series of visual thinking puzzles; they come with a
book of twelve challenges, progressing from easy to harder levels.

In challenge 6, you have to make a path from the dog to the blue kennel and the path form the cat to the mouse, by re-arranging the tile pieces to solve the challenge.but dont let the dog get the cat !

Since it is a visual spatial toy, it can be enjoyed by non-verbal children.

I used Go Getter1 a lot with my son, for help with his speech development,
if you were to ask him to tell you a story about a dog, he would just look away,
avoid eye contact, and just be silent.

But with Go Getter 1, when he had solved a challenge for himself, he had
ownership of the solution, he was proud of his work, and keen to show me.
If I then asked him to tell me the story about a dog, he would revel in it,
with the visual prompts in front of him his language would flow, as he told me
his story.

Go Getter 2 is a bit more complex, as the path from one icon to another,
has to be either yellow (a road) or blue (a river). What I found with this one is that
when my son had solved the puzzle correctly, he would chuck a wobbly, if the
solution in the booklet was different. His fear of failure re-emerged, he would cry
that he got it wrong.

So the Go Getter was a great tool to teach the concept that, sometimes there are
different ways to do things, not always just right and wrong, just different ways to
solve a problem. We now globalise the concept, I say things like: “You know in the
Go Getter you can do it your way, or my way or the way they did it in the book. Yeah,
well right now I want you to do (whatever we are trying to do) my way, and you can
tell me about your way later.

Go Getter 1 has pictures of dogs and cats and mice and cheese.
Go Getter 2 has cars, and roads, fish and boats and rivers and a shark.
Go Getter 3 has a King and a Queen and a Castle and Dragons and Treasure, you should here the fairy tales, the imagination running wild, the embellishment that
the visual cues promote, the beautiful expressive language, that this toy brings
out in my children.

As with all our toys they are good quality, long lasting, educational and fun. They pack up neatly when you want to put them away. The Go Getters have a clear plastic lid so if your child is playing in another room, they can solve the puzzle, put the lid on, and come and show you what they have done, easily.

Go Getter 1, 2 and 3 are $29.95 each. Please click on the Orders button

The next step with this educational toy, is to help the child develop their
expressive language and writing skills. Give them the task of writing
or typing the short story of what they have done, Once again the visual
prompts will cue the language to flow.
